About SGR

The Office of State Government Relations (SGR) has designated staff in both Charlottesville and Richmond with the two offices working closely with one another. The office of SGR supports the University's mission and goals by:

  • Representing the University's position on state government issues to state officials

  • Serving as a liaison between the University and state officials/agencies

  • Monitoring and tracking legislative and state issues affecting the University and higher education

  • Advancing the University’s legislative, operating, and capital priorities

  • Communicating information to University officials and the community on significant state and legislative matters

  • Educating the University community about state relations
